Save the Chimps welcomes back supporters on April 9th for the first Members Day in three years. Members and guests will go behind the scenes of the 150-acre sanctuary to learn about the latest developments in the care of over 220 rescued chimpanzees.
As a true sanctuary, Save the Chimps, is typically closed to the public but has welcomed donors for bi-annual Members Days previously. All visits were halted in March of 2020 due to the pandemic. Strict safety protocols put in place by our veterinary team ensured none of the chimpanzee residents contracted COVID-19. 
“As the pandemic winds down, many of us are renewing relationships with friends and family, and our donors know that chimpanzees are our closest relatives among all living beings,” says Ana Paula Tavares, Save the Chimps CEO. “We’re excited to welcome members back to see our very special residents and hear heartwarming updates from the staff who have cared for them over the past two years.”
Visitors will take a guided tour around the 12 chimpanzee island communities on the 150-acre sanctuary in Fort Pierce, observing these magnificent individuals from a safe distance. The 90- minute tours will run every half hour from 11 AM to 3:30 PM. Donors and members of the public can register for a tour on this link.
