PB & J challenge

Peanut Butter Jelly1

Fresh delicious fruits and vegetables are the main source of the chimps’ diet but  like us, the chimps love the occasional peanut butter and jelly sandwich!   Last month we launched our challenge and asked you to help us stock our shelves with a year’s supply of peanut butter and jelly. As always, you rose to the occasion and every day boxes of peanut butter
and jelly are delivered.
THANK YOU!!

But feeding 272 chimps 900 sandwiches per week translates into a whole lot of pb& j and we still need your help.

A year’s supply translates into:
3,120 lbs of peanut butter
2,600 of jelly

UPDATE:

Our supporters have been great in helping us meet our challenge and are pantries are filling up!!  As of July 4th we’ve received 2,000 lbs of peanut butter and 1,000 lbs of jelly.

We still have a way to go but know that with your help we can do it!

On behalf of all the chimps, thank you!

*The chimps have a healthy, varied diet which  is primarily made up of fresh fruits and vegetables.  We also provide the chimps with cooked meals (pasta, rice, oatmeal), monkey chow, and yes, PBJ sandwiches. (A local bread company generously provides bread at a generous discount.) When we do our monthly “asks”, we ask for items that can be easily shipped and are non-perishable so they can be stored for up to a year—e.g. Gatorade, peanut butter, jelly, etc. Some of our upcoming requests include oatmeal, nuts in the shell, gift cards from Home Depot, etc.
