What is “enrichment”?

Your gift will be doubled

I have fantastic news to share with you today!

Save the Chimps’ Board Members have provided a $40,000 Summer Match Grant with the power to double the donation you make before a deadline of August 31st.

All gifts made this month will be matched dollar-for-dollar. Please donate or become a member today!

In addition to supporting the daily care of our over 250 chimpanzees, your doubled donation can help provide many of the special “enrichment items” that bring joy and stimulation to our chimpanzees each and every day.

What are enrichment items?

Enrichment items can be as simple as a ball or a bucket. Leo loves playing with plastic toys, for example, and Chrissy enjoys snuggling with stuffed animals.

Other enrichment items cost more. Thanks to a generous contribution, we built and installed our first set of “termite mounds” on Freddy’s island earlier this year. The staff fills them with applesauce or other delicious treats. The chimps spend hours “fishing for food” while socializing with one another.

Our goal is to build three termite mounds on each of 11 more islands.

Any gift you give can be doubled by the Summer Match Grant, and will help to ensure we receive the full amount before the August 31 deadline.

To you or me it might be a bucket or a paintbrush, but to our chimpanzees who have endured many challenges it is so much more – something to help them heal, help them play, help them have fun.

You can make a difference in the lives of more than 250 rescued chimpanzees, and now is the time. Remember, only donations received by August 31st will be doubled, so please give today if you can. Thank you!

With gratitude,

Molly Polidoroff Molly Polidoroff

Executive Director

P.S. Naturally, our top priority is always the health and safety of our chimpanzees. That means providing food, medical care and meeting all their needs. But enrichment items matter, too, because chimpanzees are intelligent, social beings who need to be stimulated. Please donate to help enrich the lives of all our residents!
