About Me

I was born on September 14, 1979, but my parents and place of birth are unknown. I was a pet chimp, so it is safe to assume that I was taken from my mother soon after birth. I was cared for and raised by the people who purchased me, much like they would a human child. However, as cute and cuddly I was, I grew up, and like all chimps, I simply was too strong to handle safely. I went suddenly from being a pampered pet to being banished in a barren cage in my backyard. My owners realized that me and their two other pet chimps, Pepsi & April, needed a safe, secure permanent home.

Save the Chimps rescued us in March 2002. April, Pepsi, and I found it very challenging to live with other chimps, even each other. April, however, made new friends and is now comfortable living with Doug’s family. I am very intelligent. I seem to understand spoken English, love to paint, and will even braid strips of fabric that I rip off my blankets. How I kept my active mind busy in a barren cage, no one will never know, but these days I have a large, enriched island, a chimpanzee family, and loving caregivers to keep me entertained!
