About Me
I was born at Holloman Air Force Base on October 24th, 1988 to my parents Elizabeth and Emory. When the Air Force got out of the chimpanzee research business, I was considered “surplus equipment” and transferred to The Coulston Foundation a biomedical research laboratory in Alamogordo, NM. My laboratory records leave my early years a mystery, there are no details as to if I was used in any research protocols.
I was rescued by Save the Chimps in 2002 at the age of thirteen. I now live in a large family called Tanya’s family, where I am a high-ranking and respected member of the family. Me and my best friends, Allie and Ellie Mae, can often be found spending our days together, from mealtimes to relaxing on the island in the afternoons. I am gregarious with both the chimps and human caregivers but show an especially soft and playful side to humans after getting to know them well. I am very clever and inquisitive and love looking at myself in mirrors. When I can’t find a mirror, I will occasionally admire myself in a puddle of water. I love being on the island and take every opportunity to forage, relax, and play outside.
