About Me

Hello! My name is Luisita and I was born on February 24, 1991. My parents, Jennifer and Ted, gave birth to me at the Coulston Foundation in Alamogordo, NM. I was taken from my mother at birth and sent to the laboratory nursery. When I was just six months old, I was used as a research subject in a biomedical study. When I was a year old, I was introduced to a girl my own age, Daphne, and we remain best friends to this day.

I was rescued by Save the Chimps in 2002 and I joined a large chimpanzee family on Rufus’ island. I am a very spirited and outgoing chimp. I am a good friend to all, and want everybody to get along. I have a creative side to me as well, and I enjoy painting! I love hanging out with my friends, especially Daphne and Belinda, and I always greet my caregivers. Today, I enjoy life with my chimpanzee companions on our three-acre island in Florida.
