About Me
I was born at The Coulston Foundation (TCF), a biomedical research laboratory in Alamogordo, NM to my mother Scarlett, and my father Lou. I was taken from my mother at birth. Soon after, I was loaned to a laboratory in Maryland where I lived alone in a glass-enclosed cage. I developed a bump on my head from banging it on the glass for attention. On September 16, 2002, my life changed forever when I was rescued by Save the Chimps. They took over TCF, rescuing the 266 chimpanzees there, including the ones who were out on loan, like me.
I am now a part of Freddy’s family where I enjoy the companionship of a large chimpanzee family. One of my pleasures is giving my caregivers gifts. It doesn’t matter what it may be, as long as I have something to present to them. It may be anything from a rock to an orange peel. The more excited they get about getting gifts, the more vigorously I push things through the mesh to them. Often times, I will sit tandem with my BFF who happens to be my brother, Jude, and we will comfort each other. I can usually be found with a big pile of blankets whether I’m hanging out inside or on my island. Just ask my caregivers and they will tell you, I’m a total sweetheart!
