Ernesto came and went.

Tropical Storm Ernesto made landfall in Florida early Wednesday morning. As always, when a storm is coming, food and water supplies are stored, the generators are fueled up, the buildings are secured with their double doors and the hurricane windows are locked down.

Although. Ernesto never reached hurricane status, the sanctuary was still prepared. The chimps didn't seem to notice the weather. Even the newest arrivals from New Mexico didn't seem to mind the wind and rain.

When the storm had passed, the sanctuary carried on business as usual. There was no damage to the property - just a rainy day for the chimps.

The sanctuary has done what it was always designed to do - provide a safe place for chimpanzees.
