FEED A CHIMP FOR A WEEK, A MONTH OR A YEAR!

No, you can't really take a chimp out to lunch, but you can help to make sure the chimps have healthy, balanced and flavorful meals everyday.

All 289 chimps eat three meals per day of fresh fruits and vegetables. Each meal is three "courses", such as a banana, a grapefruit and an ear of corn.

Variety is the spice of life, so the menu changes daily. Here's an example of what $25 will buy a chimp for a week:

14 bananas, 14 apples, 5 oranges, 4 tomatoes, 3 carrots, 2 grapefruit, 2 mangoes, 2 peaches, 2 kiwi, 2 cucumber, 2 green peppers, 2 ears of corn, 2 yams, 3 jicama, an eggplant, a pineapple, a cantaloupe, a head of cabbage, a head of romaine lettuce and a head of cauliflower.

Feeding 289 chimps translates into approximately 1925 lbs of apples, 2520 lbs of bananas, 840 lbs of oranges, 980 lbs of tomatoes, and so on, per week, for an annual food bill of nearly $320,000.

You can help make sure the chimps continue to enjoy all of this delicious fresh produce by donating funds to feed one chimps for a week, a month or a year. Or, if you prefer, you may feed all of the chimps for a day or longer.
